I was able to detect that in the wilderness you need that favourable trait so that you are able to reproduce and go through down your genotypes for the following coevals of you species to inherit. Italy Country Profile - Assignment Example . . Italy is a magic. Explore it† (â€Å"Beautiful Italy,† n.d.). With this notion, it can be perceived that Italy must be a paragon of a paradise in the contemporary perspective. The concept of this paper has been created as to depict the PEST-C aspects of the country, including the Hofstede's perspectives of analyzing the culture of Italy as compared to Canada, and depicting the feasible business venture in the country. Lastly, a conclusive remark will be inscribed. 2. PEST-C Aspects Political/Legal. When it comes to dealing with weak pecuniary locus of the country, Italy has announced to cut its budget amounting to â‚ ¬26bn from the period span 2012-14. In accordance with the Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index 2011, the country is placed at 69th among 183 nations (â€Å"Italy Country Profile,† 2012, p. 4). In the context of European Union, Italy is deemed as having the highest aggregate tax rate. In accordance with Paying Taxes 2 012, the nation’s aggregate tax rate was 68.5%, which is notably above the average of EU of 43.4%. Such taxes may comprise of profit and labor impositions. Dismally, the nation’s aggregate piracy rate is 49% that has eventuated to procure detrimental losses of â‚ ¬1.87bn; such piracy issues are associated to business and entertainment softwares (â€Å"Italy Country Profile,† 2012, p. 5). ... Furthermore, non-performing loans, such as substandard, restructured, bad, and past-due loans. In accordance with the International Monetary Fund, these loans have incremented to 11% in 2011 from about 6% in 2008. The debt turmoil has become the triggering factor for organizations to be exposed to short-term debts, which are dependent to the lending institutions. Otherwise stated, organizations are doomed to fail because of the potential risks of high interest rates and be liquidated. The worst case is that forty percent of these organizations are exposed to interest rates that are payable within a period of less than twelve months (â€Å"Italy Country Profile,† 2012, pp. 4-5). Social/Cultural. It is significant to consider the demographic profile of a country when it comes to depicting the generality of its social aspects. Therein, cultural aspects will be delved as well in the light of fathoming the demographic facets. In accordance with the CIA World Factbook, the average l ife expectancy of Italy last 2012 was at 81.86 years--comprising of men ages 79.24 years and women 84.63 years (â€Å"Italy Country Profile, 2012, p. 5). That record is notably one of the highest in the world. In the light of macroeconomics, the nation’s aggregate workforce is mitigating (â€Å"Country Intelligence: Italy,† 2012, p. 16) and such a situation will deem as detrimental. In fact, Italy’s unemployment rate was about 8.40% in 2011, which was considerably higher than that of the developed countries. This implicates that Italy’s work environment may be the cause of weakening social aspects that will lead to impact the economy of the country. As a matter of fact, Italy’s employment rate of 56.9% was lower compared to that of the EU average of 64.2% (â€Å"Italy

Cultural Relativity and Exploring Global Gender Ideals Essay

Cultural Relativity and Exploring Global Gender Ideals - Essay Example Apart from the primary data I collected as an interviewer myself, the essay also contains some secondary research that espouses the notion that gender varies from culture to culture. For my interview, I contacted a Pakistani woman, Fareedah, who lived in my friend’s neighborhood; I felt that because she was from a different country than mine, she could offer me a chance to compare and contrast how men and women behave in our own societies. According to Fareedah, â€Å"it is the job of the men to support the family, the women are supposed to value their household chores and domestic responsibilities over everything else. I know many women who have had to give up their jobs after they got married and had babies.† Whereas in Pakistan society apparently it is not seen as appropriate for women to work, in other societies women are expected and often encouraged to join the work sector. For instance in Taiwan, because of â€Å"expanding demand for women’s labor, female labor force participation rates in Taiwan climbed from 32.6% in 1966 to 46.1% in 2001,† (Hu & Kamo, 105). Also, what immediately came to my mind when Fareedah stated that women are not expected to join the workforce in her society, was World War II when women in Britain were asked to join arms and ammunitions factories, and drive agricultural machinery. Fareedah also claimed that â€Å"I think women are just naturally inclined towards looking after the children and doing housework,† and also â€Å"men are made by nature to be more concerned about everyone around them, like a big lion who has to protect his pride! You should see the men from our North West Frontier Province, they are like kings, ruling and taking responsibility of their own little settlements.† ... naturally inclined towards looking after the children and doing housework,† and also â€Å"men are made by nature to be more concerned about everyone around them, like a big lion who has to protect his pride! You should see the men from our North West Frontier Province, they are like kings, ruling and taking responsibility of their own little settlements.† This echoes with what Ortner and Whitetaker claim about life in non-Western societies; â€Å"women are seen as tending toward more involvement with private and particularistic concerns, benefitting themselves and perhaps their children, without a regard for larger social consequences, whereas men are seen as having a more universalistic orientation, as being concerned with the welfare of the social whole,† (Ortner and Whitehead,7). Fareedah also said â€Å"my own daughter has a job in America; she is working as a teacher. She is very happy. But were we back at home, I would have been scolded for allowing my dau ghter to work, and she would also be reprimanded.† Questioning Fareedah about the attitudes towards relatives in her society, she said â€Å"I think people are very close to one another, and all the sisters, brothers, cousins, uncles, grandparents etc. are connected to one another in such a way that they all exert influence on each other.† She also said that â€Å"there is no way you can do something without seeking the advice or permission of your relatives, there is nothing you can do that your family cannot find out. So well-knit and integrated the society is!† Kamo and Hu claim that â€Å"like in many East Asian societies, the extended family is a preferred arraignment in Taiwan,† and that â€Å"73% of them (respondents aged 65 or older) actually lived that way,† (Hu & Kamo, 107). Asking Fareedah about her

Relation Between Nestle And The Brady Information Technology Essay

Relation Between Nestle And The Brady Information Technology Essay The passage introduces Nestle Corporations lack of standard business processes and its attempts to align its information systems and business process. It was aimed at transforming to a unified database accessible to all Nestle Worldwide employees worldwide. Though Nestle seemed to have developed ideas for developments using SAP architectures to make it as a single-minded e-business the project turned failure initially mainly because of the resistances from the employees . I believe that this was because of the incorrect application of a change management strategy .Fortunately Nestle had a chance to learn from its mistakes and revitalize their project. Learning Experiences from Cayenne Business simulation in Nestle The Cayenne Exercises in class was aimed at building project management capability and preparing us for project challenges at work .It can be related to Nestle Case analysis. Considering Nestles Case the New rollout caused problem mainly due to its change management strategy. Its to be accounted that Resistances from Employees was seen and this should be accounted that using approaches like Big Bang (i.e.: Dedicated team), Modular Approaches (i.e.: Project integration happens from One division to other) and Process Oriented approaches (i.e.: Critical Success Factors to evaluate pain areas) could have improved the process while managing implementations. (Lau, 2004) (OLeary, 2000) Lientz Rea (2004)Or nullified by appropriately communicating, counselling and training its staffs on the advantages of the new system and its business implications. The Simulation project in class and The Nestle had potential problems like team chemistry, team dynamics which had to control and hence both these project works did not receive much bbusiness value as it expected originally. One of the main factors was both failed to consider and understand the mindset of the people involved in the project. Systems before implanting change should balance needs work people, steering groups, sponsors, and mainly stake holders, as they are the key people. They must be provided with performance support systems and trainings. Davenport (2000) .else will resulted in Nestlà ©s Struggles and failure with Enterprise Systems projects. Cayenne is a valuable preparation for me to understand and improve my project management capabilities and use process oriented approaches and evaluate critical success factors (Lau, 2004) After restructuring and reengineering its information systems Nestle started yielding the business values. . Relation between Nestle and the Brady case study Brady Corporation as well depended on its information systems for its business. As per the analysis between Nestle and Brady both seemed to have faced almost similar problems i.e.: Information systems and also the adaptivenss of the organizations workforce to these systems. It was seen that Brady had been involved with several other applications which made the complexities internally and externally to the environment. Brady realized the need to move to digitalized technologies to minimize manual errors and cut operational loses . Brady revamped and re-engineered their business operations similar to Nestle by centralizing databases, by effectively using a change management strategies and implementing globally the new business information systems. One of the main factors was both failed to consider and understand the mindset of the people involved in regular use of the application. They gave counselling and training its staffs, key holders, sales, marketing and making them familiarize with their new business methodologies enabling quicker operations control. Davenport (2000) Brady and Nestle realised the need for global expansions and simultaneously keeping its customers happy by implementing process to minimize errors, standardize process and mishaps and thus converting to a customer focused organization and keeping the organizational culture Cayenne is a valuable preparation for me as I understand the need of improving project management capabilities and use process oriented approaches and evaluate critical success factors (Lau, 2004) Both these corporations according to me have never been much keen on following the standardized frame work for an IS / IT implementation to demonstrate best practices frame work and its to be noticed that mostly after a rollout major issues are noted . Using a Standardized framework like ITIL gives quality service provisions and roll out plans meeting business services request and customer demands quickly and gives direct value to business services management. Murray Mohamed (2007) In my opinion Both Nestle and Brady should be considered the use of this because ITIL follows sequences of steps to be considered before deploying an enterprise application. Murray Mohamed (2007) Figure: An ITIL enabled Structural frame work. Source: Murray Mohamed (2007) Cayenne simulation: -Reflective report on acquired key learnings Based on our learning With Mr Martin, was initially focussed on an organization which had a failed project and the steps by which I am as a project member tackles these problems to restructure my organization .We were guided initially through improving project conditions again by highlighting the key performance reassures, resources and focus members like the team, organization and the steering group members. We organized ourselves in a team of six members. The key foundations of the project to be taken accounted to six different periods The reflections from this learning exercise depicts my skills in managing existing project conditions effectively in a new business scenario and gave me lessons like to managing cost and time to take business decisions at the right time Initial focus was on resources, team work and identifying the main issues likely to be raised by the steering committee members and the scope of the project. We believed that Team work itself is an organizational strategy and we used our people constructively and effectively in gaining advantages. In a team we maintained balance, leadership and a good communication which are essential. Thompson (2010). The next in chain followed the requirements section where the consideration was on developing competence and the current standing of employees. In the design phase we learned about developments of blue prints so that we can check for alternate ways, and abide with the other process. This lesson taught me to look for several alternate ways of diagnosing business requirements .In the detailed design process we targeted the end-users and the defined work flows by which the project is governed .In the developmental phase we considered the testing phase where we tested the project friendliness and looked for fresh ideas for improving user developments . In the implementation phase is our commitment to our managers to deliver the project on time to end users and check the end user experiences. This simulation has given me some ideas of dealing with real life situations and working in pressured environments .It introduced me to key members like steering groups , stake holders who are the real key people and not only managers who worry about failed projects .I also learned in maximizing business values and do a testing phase analysis before a project is being handed over the end users .It taught me effective time management and needs for effective groups and members to bring in new ideas for a development .Cayenne Simulations were an insight to real corporate life on how a project gets into real shape and how to deal with a failed project . This simulation taught me about values like networking between other group members to get ideas quickly, so in a consulting field I will try to develop professional contacts via linked- in.com, company parties, business functions etc. All together it gave me a real life consultants experiences and I believe this learning lesson will be helpful for my consulting carer.

Pest Analysis Essay

Political factors include the following types of instrument: – Legislation such as the minimum wage or anti discrimination laws. – Voluntary codes and practices – Market regulations – Trade agreements, tariffs or restrictions – Tax levies and tax breaks – Type of government regime eg communist, democratic, dictatorship Non conformance with legislative obligations can lead to sanctions such as fines, adverse publicity and imprisonment. Ineffective voluntary codes and practices will often lead to governments introducing legislation to regulate the activities covered by the codes and practices. Economical The second element of a PEST analysis involves a study of economic factors. All businesses are affected by national and global economic factors. National and global interest rate and fiscal policy will be set around economic conditions. The climate of the economy dictates how consumers, suppliers and other organisational stakeholders such as suppliers and creditors behave within society. An economy undergoing recession will have high unemployment, low spending power and low stakeholder confidence. Conversely a â€Å"booming† or growing economy will have low unemployment, high spending power and high stakeholder confidence. A successful organisation will respond to economic conditions and stakeholder behaviour. Furthermore organisations will need to review the impact economic conditions are having on their competitors and respond accordingly. In this global business world organisations are affected by economies throughout the world and not just the countries in which they are based or operate from. For example: a global credit crunch originating in the USA contributed towards the credit crunch in the UK in 2007/08. Cheaper labour in developing countries affects the competitiveness of products from developed countries. An increase in interest rates in the USA will affect the share price of UK stocks or adverse weather conditions in India may affect the price of tea bought in an English cafe. A truly global player has to be aware of economic conditions across all borders and needs to ensure that it employs strategies that protect and promote its business through economic conditions throughout the world. Social The third aspect of PEST focuses its attention on forces within society such as family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and the media. Social forces affect our attitudes, interest s and opinions. These forces shape who we are as people, the way we behave and ultimately what we purchase. For example within the UK peoples attitudes are changing towards their diet and health. As a result the UK is seeing an increase in the number of people joining fitness clubs and a massive growth for the demand of organic food. Products such as Wii Fit attempt to deal with society’s concern, about children’s lack of exercise. Population changes also have a direct impact on organisations. Changes in the structure of a population will affect the supply and demand of goods and services within an economy. Falling birth rates will result in decreased demand and greater competition as the number of consumers fall. Conversely an increase in the global population and world food shortage predictions are currently leading to calls for greater investment in food production. Due to food shortages African countries such as Uganda are now reconsidering their rejection of genetically modified foods. In summary organisations must be able to offer products and services that aim to complement and benefit people’s lifestyle and behaviour. If organisations do not respond to changes in society they will lose market share and demand for their product or service. Technological Unsurprisingly the fourth element of PEST is technology, as you are probably aware technological advances have greatly changed the manner in which businesses operate.

Personal Statement Essay - 1118 Words

Project management became relevant in my life long before I even understood its propensity. It began at age fourteen when I started a neighborhood club for kids with the ambitious mission to save the earth. To create the project, my first agenda item was to recruit new members. I carried this out by going door to door and explaining my cause to the neighbors and asking if they would allow their kids to join the club. I then hosted a first meeting in my parent’s garage and was able to form an inspiring group of 6 members. As the head of the club I developed our first undertaking, which was to ask our neighbors to donate their cans for the group to recycle. To do so, I asked every member to collect as many empty cans as they could and†¦show more content†¦My years at CSUF were challenging and sometimes seen in the reflection of my course work outside the communications curriculum. I watched my grandmother, whom I was very close with, develop, suffer and pass on fr om cancer. My levels of maturity faltered causing me to lose focus, as I struggled to overcome my sense of loss and sorrow. However in time, I found new growth and began thinking about what my future means. With this revitalized perspective, I propelled forward in pursuit of opportunity. My senior year I won an internship opportunity at Foote Cone Belding, a well known advertising agency, and found a home on the account services team. After graduation I was offered a full-time position and spent several years at the firm serving as liaison between the client and the agency, managing my peer’s progress against my client expectations. Given the nature of the business, and the high functionality and output of the firm, I found zeal with these â€Å"grown up† puzzles-- managing work orders, time-lines, status reports, preparing competitive analysis and budget tracking. As the years went by, my advertising career progressed with similar roles in smaller boutique firms until I found myself ready to move into a more program development role.
